Bookclubbery

With book clubs all the rage right now – including our newest book club group meeting at WCV on the third Tuesday morning of every month at 10 am. The following two books offer marvelous ideas for finding that next great page turner.

1. So Many Books So Little Time: A Year of Passionate Reading by Sara Nelson.
028.9 N (SHL)
Ms. Nelson pens a book column for Publisher’s Weekly Magazine and brings a wealth of book knowledge and expertise to her writing. Her book is an entertaining read as well as offering readers insights into a wide variety of books.

2. Book Lust: Recommended Reading for every Mood, Moment, and Reason by Nancy Pearl
011.73 P (WCV)
Ms Pearl offers dozens and dozens of reading suggestions in an enormously wide variety of subject categories. Her annotations are informative, intriguing, as well as often humorous. Book Lust II as well as a special Book Crush for Kids and Teens followed her original title.
YA 028.5 P (WCV)

If you’d rather surf the web for more suggestions, a favorite site is http://www.bookclubgirl.com/
It offers book suggestions, news, and a selection of other worthwhile and book related links, that make this site a must for any potential book club attendees.

Tuesdays @ 10 - Book List

A Reading and Discussion Group

Missed the first meeting? Here's the book list for the coming months:

February 19, 2008: "Snow Flower and the Secret Fan" by Lisa See.

March 18, 2008: "The River of Doubt" by Candice Millard.

April 15, 2008: "The Bookseller of Kabul" by Asne Seierstad.

May 20, 2008: "The Children of Men" by P.D. James.

June 17, 2008: "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy.

For your Valentine's day reading pleasure, pick up "About Alice" by Calvin Trillin. A joyous look at a wife and mother and the somewhat brief life she lives and the joy and love shared by husband and wife. Less than 80 pages... but what a love story!

The Civic Center Library will order and hold copies of the next month's book - just ask at the Circulation desk!
